FIRST A LITTLE LOCAL KNOWLEDGE.

Ystradgynlais is a market town, beautifully situated in the Upper Tawe Valley whose history is interlinked not with agriculture,as its rural setting would suggest, but with birth of the industrial age. Here was the home of the first Welsh ironmasters with evidence of smelting going back to Elizabeth 1.
The town is also the gateway to some of the most beautiful and unspoilt scenery in Wales.
Ystradgynlais is flanked by mountainsThe Drum,Cribarth,Farteg and Mynydd Du,with excellent road connections to the M4.
The present Parish Church of Ystradgynlais St.Cynog's rebuilt in 1865 is the latest of a succesion of churches that are believed to go back as far as the 6th century.
The town sits on the southern boundary of the county of Powys.
